Engineering Project Manager – Capital Projects

Are you an experienced Project Manager with a background in engineering, capital investment or technical infrastructure projects?

We’re recruiting for an established specialist engineering organisation in Bedford looking for an experienced Engineering Project Manager to lead a range of capital investment, infrastructure, business improvement and development projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys taking ownership of technically complex projects from the initial business case right through to successful delivery and closure.

Working within a highly technical engineering environment, you’ll collaborate with engineering teams, technical specialists, procurement, finance, contractors and senior stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

The role

You’ll take ownership of engineering and capital projects across the full project lifecycle, including:

* Developing project requirements, scope and business cases

* Creating and managing project plans, schedules and budgets

* Coordinating engineering and technical resources

* Managing external suppliers, contractors and procurement activity

* Monitoring project costs, cash flow and commercial commitments

* Identifying and managing project risks and mitigating actions

* Managing changes to scope, timescales and cost

* Leading project meetings and stakeholder communications

* Producing regular project status reports for senior management

* Ensuring projects meet safety, quality, security and regulatory requirements

* Supporting continuous improvement of project management processes and standards

What we’re looking for

You’ll ideally have:

* Previous experience delivering complex engineering or technical projects

* Experience of CAPEX, capital investment, infrastructure or major equipment/plant projects

* Strong understanding of project planning, budgets, schedules and cost control

* Experience managing suppliers, contractors and procurement activity

* Strong risk, issue and change management skills

* Confidence working with technical specialists across different engineering disciplines

* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

* An engineering/technical degree or equivalent practical experience

* Experience within manufacturing, aerospace, defence, automotive, R&D, industrial engineering or another technically demanding environment would be highly advantageous

Candidates must be able to satisfy the required security clearance requirements, including five years’ continuous UK residency.
