Our client is a well-established engineering business based in Ashington, specialising in the design, manufacture, and supply of high-quality products for the oil & gas and offshore renewable energy sectors. With a strong reputation for technical excellence and reliability, they support critical operations in demanding environments.
This role offers a Monday to Friday schedule: 8:00am – 5:00pm (Monday to Thursday) and 8:00am – 1:00pm on Fridays.
The Role
We are looking for an Engineering Stores Person / Goods Inward & Inventory Technician to take ownership of goods receipt, stock control, and materials management within a busy engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Receive, check, and inspect incoming goods against purchase orders, specifications, and delivery documentation
* Identify and control non-conforming materials, ensuring appropriate escalation and corrective actions
* Maintain accurate stock records, ensuring all inventory movements are logged and traceable
* Carry out regular stock checks and cycle counts, investigating and resolving discrepancies
* Issue materials to production and engineering teams in line with requirements
* Ensure all goods inward and inventory documentation is accurately maintained and compliant with company procedures
* Organise and maintain the stores area to ensure efficient storage, accessibility, and safety of materials
* Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve delivery, quality, or stock issues
* Assist with calibration processes, ensuring equipment is tracked and calibrated in line with schedules
* Support the management of returns, including logging, investigation, and tracking corrective actions
* Maintain control of engineering documentation, ensuring correct storage, version control, and distribution
* Contribute to continuous improvement activities within stores and goods inward processes
* Escalate stock, quality, or process issues promptly to management
About You
* Experience in a stores, goods inward, or inventory role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
* Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to stock control and documentation
* Experience using inventory or ERP systems
* Ability to read and interpret basic engineering documentation (desirable)
* Good communication skills and the ability to liaise across departments and with suppliers
* Proactive, organised, and able to work independently
