The focus of the role is to provide support for survey machine-controlled plant. This role will also support construction checks and as-built of construction operations that are completed with machine-control. Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks will be required – a BPSS level of security clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years can be considered for this role. Your team Location: Devonport Dockyard, Plymouth Contract: Permanent, 42.5 hours a week Making Possible In this role as Engineering Surveyor (Machine Control), you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day-to-day tasks will include: Check and maintain survey control networks Support machine control application for excavation, demolition and drilling operations Check design and create models for machine control Complete checking of machine control operations Provide check reports and as-builts, through laser scanning and modelling of point clouds Ensure survey data is collected and recorded accurately, following project QA/QC standards. Operating survey equipment to the highest of precision within a civils environment Support engineers with surveying activities to ensure consistent approaches to surveying and engineering Coordinate with site engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors to ensure alignment between construction programme and survey operations Assist with the implementation of quality control procedures, particularly in accordance with QC1 requirements; maintaining the highest standards of traceability, tolerances, reporting Manage and archive survey files and records to support project compliance and audits, using the Projects Document Management system Attend daily briefings and provide updates on survey progress and issues Ensure all surveying works are carried out in accordance with health, safety, and environmental regulations Support other surveying work packages as required This profile is not exhaustive. From time to time, you may be required by the Company to perform other tasks, which are not included in the above description, but are within your capabilities and, where necessary, training, and full support will be given What do you bring to the role? Essential: Degree, diploma, or relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Surveying, or Construction Site based role Operating on a 7/3/7/4 shift pattern as per programme needs Experience in surveying and construction industries Considerable years of experience in a similar surveying position on a civil engineering project Experience with Leica Machine Control equipment Experience with surveying equipment; total stations, GPS/GNSS and laser scanners Survey data processing software; AutoCAD Civil 3D, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone and Leica 3DR Understanding of QC1 procedures and quality documentation in a civils context Strong attention to detail and organisational skills Excellent communication and teamwork abilities CSCS Card and relevant site safety qualifications Member of the CinstCES (or technical member working towards full member), or another body Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Desirable: Experience working on major infrastructure or utilities projects (e.g., highways, rail, water, energy, nuclear) Knowledge of BIM or digital construction processes First aid and additional safety training certifications What’s in it for you?
