We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Lecturer in English to join the dynamic team at Barking & Dagenham College and inspire the next generation of learners to achieve their full potential in English Language and Literature.

Role Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging and high-quality teaching across English courses (Functional Skills, GCSE, and potentially A Level or Access programmes).
• Plan, prepare, and assess lessons to support student progression and achievement.
• Contribute to curriculum development, ensuring content is relevant and up to date.
• Support students in developing literacy, critical thinking, and employability skills.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an inclusive and inspiring learning environment.
• Engage with parents, carers, and external stakeholders to support learner success.

Essential Requirements

• A degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, or a related subject.
• A recognised teaching qualification (Cert Ed, PGCE, or equivalent) or willingness to work towards one.
• Strong subject knowledge across GCSE and Functional Skills English.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and classroom management skills.
• Ability to motivate and inspire students of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
• Experience supporting students with additional learning needs (desirable but not essential).
