Location: Lewisham
Salary: £165 - £265 per day
Start Date: September 2026
Contract: Long Term, Part Time (3 days a week)

GSL Education London Branch are looking for an experienced English Teacher to join a welcoming girls' secondary school and sixth form in Lewisham. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate English Teacher to inspire young people and make a real difference in a supportive and successful school.

The successful English Teacher will deliver engaging lessons and help students develop confidence and a love for English. This English Teacher role is ideal for someone with strong subject knowledge and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for students. The school is seeking a dedicated English Teacher who can create a positive learning environment and contribute to the wider life of the school. This English Teacher position offers a long-term opportunity on a part-time basis, working three days a week. Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging and creative English lessons.
Monitor, assess and track student progress effectively.
Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
Differentiate learning to meet the needs of all students.
Encourage high standards of behaviour and achievement.
Prepare students for examinations and assessments.
Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and school leaders.
Contribute to departmental and whole-school activities when required.

Requirements

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification.
Previous experience working as an English Teacher in a secondary school setting.
Strong subject knowledge in English Language and English Literature.
Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
A passion for helping students achieve their full potential.
The ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
A commitment to maintaining high standards of teaching and learning.
An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
