About the Role

Surecall Education Recruitment is looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Secondary English Teacher for a school in Hertfordshire, starting in January 2027.

This is a full-time, one-term opportunity for a passionate teacher who can deliver engaging English lessons and inspire young people to develop their knowledge, confidence and love of learning.

We welcome applications from experienced teachers and Early Career Teachers (ECTs) who are looking for a new opportunity for the Spring Term.

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.

Teach a range of English topics, including literature, language, reading and writing.

Prepare pupils for GCSE examinations and support their academic progress.

Adapt lessons to meet the needs and abilities of different learners.

Maintain a positive, inclusive and well-managed classroom environment.

Monitor, assess and provide feedback on pupil progress.

Encourage participation, independent thinking and a genuine interest in English.

Work collaboratively with other teaching staff and the wider school team.

Follow school policies and maintain high standards of safeguarding and pupil welfare.

The Ideal Candidate

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognised equivalent.

Experience teaching English within a secondary school setting.

Strong subject knowledge across English Language and Literature.

Confident classroom management skills.

Ability to plan and deliver creative and engaging lessons.

A positive, flexible and professional approach.

A genuine passion for supporting young people's learning and development.

ECTs are welcome to apply.
