English Teacher (Mat leave)

Protocol Education are currently recruiting for an experienced English Teacher to join a successful secondary school in the Chester-le-Street area on a full-time maternity cover contract from April 2027.

This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate English specialist to join a supportive and well-established department, delivering engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role offers continuity for the remainder of the academic year and would suit a teacher who can quickly establish positive relationships and maintain high standards of teaching and learning.

Please Note

Recent UK secondary school teaching experience is essential for this role. Applications from candidates without UK classroom experience will not be considered.

The Role

Deliver high-quality English Language and Literature lessons across KS3 and KS4.
Plan, prepare and assess work in line with the national curriculum.
Monitor student progress and provide targeted support where required.
Create a positive, engaging and inclusive learning environment.
Maintain excellent classroom management and behaviour standards.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to support pupil achievement.

The Ideal Candidate

Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Has recent UK experience teaching English in a secondary school setting.
Demonstrates strong curriculum knowledge and subject expertise.
Has excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Is committed to achieving the best outcomes for all learners.
Can hit the ground running within an established department.
