Wayman Education is seeking a dedicated and inspiring English Teacher to join a highly successful English department at an exceptional secondary school in Sawbridgeworth. This full-time, permanent position is scheduled to start in September 2026 and is open to both experienced practitioners and ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging English Language and English Literature lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

• Cultivate a positive learning environment that encourages critical thinking, analytical writing, and a love for reading among students of all abilities.

• Assess, track, and report on the development and academic progress of pupils in line with GCSE exam board specifications and school assessment policies.

• Implement effective differentiation and adaptive teaching strategies to support diverse learning needs, including SEND and high-attaining students.

• Contribute actively to departmental meetings, parent consultation evenings, and the wider extracurricular literacy initiatives of the school.

Requirements

• Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, alongside a degree in English Literature, English Language, or a closely related discipline.

• Experience: A proven track record of teaching English within a UK secondary school setting (including successful ITT/PGCE placements).

• Skills: Exceptional subject knowledge, strong classroom management techniques, and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
