English & Humanities Teaching Assistant - Secondary School - Camden - Perfect for Aspiring Teachers - September 2026 Start - Full-Time

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for English, History, Geography, Religious Studies, Politics, or the wider Humanities?

Would you like to gain valuable classroom experience in a supportive secondary school before embarking on teacher training?

Tradewind Recruitment is partnering with welcoming and ambitious secondary schools in Camden looking to appoint passionate English & Humanities Teaching Assistants from September 2026. These full-time roles are ideal for aspiring teachers who want to develop their classroom skills, support students' academic progress, and gain invaluable experience before progressing into teacher training.

This is more than just a support role - it's an opportunity to become a valued member of a thriving department while helping students develop literacy, critical thinking, communication, and analytical skills that will support them throughout their education and beyond.

The Role

As an English & Humanities Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers and support students across KS3 and KS4. You will play a key role in helping students engage with learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential in subjects including English, History, Geography, Religious Studies, and Citizenship.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Supporting students during English and Humanities lessons
Working one-to-one and in small groups to improve literacy, confidence, and academic attainment
Assisting students with classwork, coursework, revision sessions, and exam preparation
Supporting the delivery of engaging lessons across English Language, English Literature, and Humanities subjects
Encouraging positive learning behaviours and active classroom participation
Supporting students with additional learning needs where required
Assisting teachers with lesson preparation, resources, and classroom activities
Promoting reading, discussion, critical thinking, and independent learning
Building positive relationships with students, teachers, and parents
Gaining invaluable school-based experience ahead of teacher training

Who the School is Looking For

You should have:

A degree in English, History, Geography, Politics, Religious Studies, Sociology, Journalism, Creative Writing, or a related subject
Strong academic credentials and a passion for education
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A positive, proactive, and approachable personality
A genuine interest in becoming a teacher in the future
Previous experience working with young people (tutoring, mentoring, coaching, youth work, or school experience) is desirable but not essential
