Job Description - Enterprise Architect

As a member of the Central Government architecture capability, you will assist Civica’s clients in translating their business strategy into roadmaps for technical solution delivery.

The role of an Enterprise Architect at Civica is to ensure that the critical services delivered to our clients are architected to the highest quality standards, leveraging expertise, experience and best practices throughout the full project lifecycle, aligning technology strategy to business goals.


Responsibilities -

·       Work independently or as part of a team

·       Identify priorities for change to enable delivery at pace

·       Lead and influence the delivery of cross-cutting capabilities that enable change

·       Own the enterprise architecture vision, strategy and roadmaps from a business, technology and data perspective, including ‘as is’, ‘to be’ and transitional states for customers

·       Consult and support collaboration across client business

·       Understand client’s ecosystem and interdependencies, including reference architectures

·       Take a strategic view across all architectural domains, portfolios and programmes

·       Guide client organisations to make appropriate business, technology and data decisions by recommending reuse, sustainability and scalability, to achieve value for money and reduce risk

·       Establish architectural principles, policies and standards

·       Collaborate and consult with stakeholders to assure business, technology and data decisions are aligned with enterprise architecture strategy

·       Carry out horizon scanning across industry, identifying emerging trends and their potential impact and opportunity for the organisation

·       Participates in and can lead meetings with stakeholders.

·       Provide advice, leadership and mentoring for teams, defining standards and practices for Enterprise Architecture.

·       Ensures adherence to applicable standards (corporate, industry, national and international).

·       Contribute to developing the Civica Central Government architecture community.

·       Participate in business development providing architectural input and meeting with clients to secure new business.

·       Act as pre-sales architect for bids and proposals, assisting with estimation and planning.

·       Support identification of EA training needs across internal teams.

·       Collaborate with Civica colleagues across other disciplines to ensure consideration of architecture at all stages of the delivery lifecycle.

Essential Experience / Skills:

  • Experience of common Enterprise Architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman etc…
  • TOGAF certified with experience of applying the framework in a client environment.
  • Degree level education, or equivalent.
  • Ability to articulate and present different points-of-views on various technologies and architecture patterns.
  • Highly customer focused, able to quickly build trust and develop customer intimacy.
  • Customer-focussed with the imagination to identify innovative approaches to critical problems.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to guide, direct, motivate and support staff either directly or indirectly.
  • Consultancy skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders at senior levels.
  • Effective time management and an ability to recognise and respond to changing priorities and requirements.
  • Good organisation skills.
  • Self-starting and self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude.
