Job Description - Environment, Health and Safety Manager

The role will cover all sites in the UK and travel will be required.

As the UK’s principal H&S leader, your primary objective is to ensure those required to manage H&S effectively understand and fulfil their role in doing so. To that effect, your responsibilities include:
Leading and developing our UK based H&S team to ensure they are engaged and are effective in executing the responsibilities as defined and agreed together with them.
Develop and maintain relationships with process owners, line-managers, and other stakeholders, where these are required to durably embed H&S controls into our operational and other business processes.
Maintain an up-to-date understanding of the H&S relevant needs and expectations of our frontline colleagues and customers, especially where these are contractually or legally enforced.
Proactively guide site leaders and cluster directors in fulfilling their responsibility to ensure health and safety risks are identified and mitigated, in accordance with the law.
Train and facilitate people in leadership positions to understand, commit to, and actively fulfil their responsibilities in managing any H&S aspects of the processes they manage.
Together with the Global Director for H&S and the UK Leadership Team, establish the UK’s annual H&S Objectives and monitor the progress made by the action owners in achieving these.
Support the owners of H&S objectives in establishing and coordinating the plans they are required to maintain to meet the objectives allocated to them.
Developing and providing trainings where these are relevant to ensure colleagues understand the H&S aspects involved in their work and how to manage these effectively.
Together with the UK Leadership Team develop and execute a communications plan required to ensure all UK based staff are aware of the UK’s H&S program and take ownership of their role in executing it.
Working together with solutions-design, procurement, and site leaders to make our warehouses inherently safe through the application of safety-in-design principles and H&S standards.
Ensuring that every site leader establishes and maintains an emergency response plan that enables an effective response to incidents involving a fire, requiring evacuation, or first-aid.
On a monthly basis, report to the UK LT the progress their teams have made in achieving their H&S objectives, mitigating H&S risks, ensuring legal compliance, and learning from incidents.
Prepare and facilitate an annual review of H&S performance of the UK region and support the UK LT members in defining and allocating the actions required to improve performance where required.
Support site leaders during governmental inspections and other visits where these require H&S technical expertise to be available.
Support site leaders in the investigation of incidents that occurred on their site and ensuring that any outcomes relevant to other operations are distributed within the UK and Globally.
Verified Knowledge & Experience
Completed bachelor’s degree.
NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent.
GCSE / O level or equivalent secondary level
PC Literate
Experience in one of the following industries (desirable):
Logistics
Telecommunications
Automotive / Aerospace
Manufacturing
Oil and Gas
Terminals
Construction
Coaching (desirable)
Project Management (desirable)
NEBOSH Diploma (Desirable)
COMAH Regulations (Desirable)
Environmental Management (Desirable)
