Environmental Health Manager

We’re working with a Local Authority seeking an experienced Environmental Health Operations Manager to lead its Local Investigations team and support improvements across investigations, enforcement and pest control.
This is an opportunity to shape how the service operates, with a focus on reviewing team structures, improving complaint referral processes and establishing effective performance management.
The role will involve:

Leading and supporting the Local Investigations team, overseeing workloads, performance and the quality of investigations.

Creating clear processes for receiving, assessing and allocating complaints and referrals.
*
Reviewing the structure and delivery of the pest control service in response to increased demand.
*
Introducing systems to monitor performance, evaluate outcomes and identify improvements.
*
Strengthening collaboration across Environmental Health and wider services to improve compliance.
*
Providing guidance on legislation and enforcement, ensuring decisions and casework are consistent and robust.
We’re looking for an experienced Local Authority Environmental Health manager with a strong grounding in investigations, public health and regulatory enforcement. You’ll need a track record of managing operational teams, improving services and translating plans into practical changes.
Experience across nuisance, pest control, waste enforcement or environmental protection would be particularly relevant, alongside the confidence to review existing arrangements and establish a clear direction for the service.
