Salary range: Grade 10 £45,123- £47,262p.a. plus fantastic benefits and progressing towards grade 11

Environmental Health Officer – Grade 10–11

Make a difference to housing standards across Croydon’s private rented sector.

The role

Join our Private Sector Housing team, inspecting privately rented homes and HMOs, tackling hazards and poor property conditions and using your professional judgement to determine the right course of action.

You’ll work across property licensing and housing enforcement, from inspections and licence applications through to notices, financial penalties and prosecutions where necessary.

At Grade 11, you’ll take on more complex casework and additional responsibility supporting the day-to-day work of the team.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need:

• A Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health or equivalent, with EHORB registration or the ability to achieve full registration within six months.
• Experience of housing work and a working knowledge of HHSRS.
• Knowledge of private sector housing legislation, building construction and housing enforcement.
• The ability to identify property defects and appropriate remedial works.
• Confidence dealing with landlords, tenants and other professionals and progressing enforcement cases.
• A full driving licence and access to a car for work.
