Apply Estimating Engineer Location: Fleetwood, Lancashire Salary: £35,000–£40,000 per annum Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:00am–4:30pm | Friday, 8:00am–2:00pm Working Arrangement: Full-time, office-based The Opportunity We are recruiting an Estimating Engineer to join an established manufacturing business based in Fleetwood. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an engineering or manufacturing background who has a strong understanding of machining processes, technical drawings and manufacturing methods. You will be responsible for preparing accurate, competitive quotations, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal departments to ensure projects are costed effectively and meet customer requirements. Previous estimating experience would be advantageous but is not essential. Candidates with a strong technical engineering background and the motivation to develop their estimating skills are encouraged to apply. Key Responsibilities Prepare accurate and competitive technical and commercial quotations, managing enquiries through to quotation. Review engineering drawings, technical specifications and CAD models to understand customer requirements. Liaise with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal stakeholders throughout the quotation process. Obtain supplier pricing, assess manufacturing costs and identify cost-effective solutions. Work closely with Engineering, Production and Purchasing teams to establish the most efficient manufacturing methods. Identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering. Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers and suppliers. Support the operational team in ensuring customer expectations are met. Undertake site visits where required to assess project requirements. About You A background in engineering or manufacturing, with a good understanding of CNC turning and milling principles. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and tolerances. Knowledge of manufacturing processes and the feasibility of producing components from a range of materials. Experience with machined and cast components, tooling and fixtures. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving. Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and working with Bills of Materials (BOMs). Confident communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with customers, suppliers and colleagues. Self-motivated, organised and able to manage your workload to meet deadlines. A team player with a proactive approach and a willingness to learn. Full UK driving licence and the ability to commute to Fleetwood. Desirable Experience The following experience would be beneficial but is not essential: Previous experience in engineering estimating, costing or quotation preparation. Familiarity with CAD systems. Knowledge of fabrication methods. Awareness of requirements within the railway industry. Experience working to recognised international standards and customer specifications. What's on Offer? Salary of £35,000–£40,000 per annum. A Monday-to-Thursday working pattern of 8:00am–4:30pm, with an early finish at 2:00pm on Fridays.
