Estimator | Christchurch | £38,000 | Fixed-Term Contract

Are you an analytically minded engineer with a strong grasp of manufacturing processes and costing? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, precision-driven environment where accuracy, collaboration and technical insight are key?

As an Estimator, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the commercial function of a specialist engineering business, breaking down customer enquiries to provide detailed and accurate quotations.

This is a fixed-term contract role with a company recognised for its engineering excellence and heritage in precision manufacturing. Based at their Christchurch facility, you’ll be part of a close-knit team in a well-established, forward-thinking business.

As an Estimator, you’ll benefit from:

  • Early Friday finish and Christmas shutdown
  • 33 days holiday per year (including bank holidays)
  • Critical illness cover, life cover and a company sick pay scheme
  • On-site parking and regular Lunch & Learn sessions
  • Opportunities for development and progression in a supportive environment

As an Estimator, your responsibilities will include:

  • Breaking down customer enquiries into labour, material, and tooling costs
  • Preparing quotations for complex components and assemblies
  • Identifying key manufacturing processes and flagging capability or capacity issues
  • Liaising with the Purchasing team to obtain up-to-date material and AGS pricing
  • Reviewing BOMs and drawings to quote full assemblies accurately

As an Estimator, your skills and experience will include:

  • Previous experience in an engineering or estimating role, ideally within aerospace or precision manufacturing
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with CAD software
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, machined, or composite parts
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and process specifications
  • Familiarity with treatments and finishes such as anodising, painting, and heat treatments
  • Organised, self-motivated, and confident communicating across departments

If you're ready to apply your technical expertise in a commercially focused role, and want to join a respected, quality-led engineering business, apply today or contact Charlie at Rubicon for more information.
