Estimator - Civils

A well-established and growing civil engineering contractor is seeking an experienced Estimator to join its commercial team. Operating across the UK, the company delivers a diverse range of civil engineering and infrastructure projects for both public and private sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

* Review tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and contract requirements.

* Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil engineering projects.

* Undertake quantity take-offs and detailed pricing exercises.

* Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.

* Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.

* Liaise with operational, commercial, and procurement teams during the tender process.

* Prepare tender submissions and supporting documentation within agreed deadlines.

* Assist in post-tender negotiations and project handovers.

* Maintain and develop estimating databases and cost information.

Requirements

* Proven experience as an Estimator within the civil engineering, infrastructure, groundworks, or utilities sectors.

* Strong understanding of tendering and estimating processes.

* Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical information.

* Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.

* Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.

* Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software packages.

* Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.

* Degree, HNC, HND, or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline.

* Experience pricing highways, drainage, utilities, earthworks, reinforced concrete, or infrastructure projects.

* Knowledge of NEC and other standard forms of contract.
