Job Description

bp is seeking an ETAP Base Fields Team Lead to oversee reservoir management and area development across six mature ETAP fields. These fields present a range of subsurface challenges and opportunities, requiring strong technical leadership to maximise value and support long‑term resource recovery. In this role, you will lead a multi-disciplinary subsurface team to maintain a ‘living’ ADP through the identification of commercial and technical opportunities to maximise field value. The Base Fields Team Lead will work closely with the New Fields Team Lead and IWD Team Lead to ensure seamless integration and delivery across ETAP subsurface

The team is accountable for developing and implementing a quality field Depletion Plan for continuous resource progression and to support the Production Management Team in maximising production both now and in the future.

Key Accountabilities

• Resource Progression: Maintain a live ADP, integrate key enablers for delivery, and support progression of development options to sanction. Build and maintain a healthy hopper of technical and commercial opportunities, including infill wells and wellwork.

• Reservoir Management: Own and update field depletion plans, reservoir operating plans, and surveillance strategies. Monitor reservoir health and depletion to underpin both short‑ and long‑term production. Provide long‑term forecasting and QPF reporting.

• Risk Management: Own the SURM and risk register with clear actions, and ensure robust self‑verification and assurance practices. Promote compliance with bp’s Code of Conduct.

• Cross‑Team Collaboration: Work closely with New Fields and IWD Team Leads, support the Production Management Team, and represent bp in technical interactions with partners and regulators.

• Team Leadership & Development: Lead by example, prioritise team wellbeing and workload, ensure skills development, and foster a culture of coaching, collaboration and continuous learning. Support the ADM in managing relationships across the area teams to ensure subsurface acts as an integrator. Input to any technical interactions with partners, including representation of bp at TCM or other technical partner meetings.

Experience & Education

• A BSc or MSc in engineering, geoscience or another relevant science field.

• Strong subsurface business ownership, with the ability to maximise area value.

• Experience working across the subsurface value chain in multidisciplinary environments.

• Proven experience with reservoir management processes such as Depletion Planning, ISD, RPP, DRM and SURM.

• Clear communication skills, including engagement with JV partners and regulators.

• A passion for developing people, with experience supporting team growth through coaching or mentoring.
