Role Purpose:
The Events & Marketing Assistant will support the ASR marketing & communications team, working in a collaborative manner to further the goals of the organisation. The holder of this role will look to take a lead on the planning and implementation of all events across ASR, working closely with the marketing team to plan, execute and analyse client entertainment.
The events & marketing assistant will be expected to lead with the purchasing of merchandise, printing and shopping of branded gifts. This is a hands-on role, and the holder of the role is expected to be willing to learn new skills while getting involved in all aspects of the department’s work.
Role Responsibilities:
Events:
Work closely with the marketing team to lead with event planning, management and implementation.
Scout venues and liaise with them to arrange events.
Work on menus, formats and styles of events, including arranging contracts.
Liaise internally to find invite lists of clients and look to manage attendees.
Merchandise
Source marketing merchandise online. Propose ideas, design and arrange the purchasing.
Work internally to ensure underwriters and client facing staff have the right materials, along with sending merchandise to overseas offices. Note: this will involve lifting objects which are at times quite heavy
Ensure the correct printing of brochures and that there is always readily available stock.
Monitor spending against budget and ensure ASR has good corporate merchandise within a reasonable expense.
Marketing:
Work collaboratively on the ASR social media channels, look to promote ideas, source stories and publish effective news content.
Work on presentations, new business initiatives and be a resource for underwriters.
Draft and publish content for the company intranet and other news channels.
Administration, Reporting & Misc:
Assist in producing high quality reporting to showcase the marketing & communications team’s workflow.
Assist the Head of Marketing & Communications with reasonable tasks according to workload
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Events: planning and executing events, ideally in a business environment
Merchandise: designing, sourcing online gifts and managing stock
Desirable:
Writing: an interest in writing stories and news articles
Social media: any experience with LinkedIn would be advantageous
An understanding and/or interest in Africa and developing markets
