Job Description - Events Manager

We are a nationwide organisation with over 33,000 members across the UK who are seeking an Events Manager to oversee a small events team, ensuring that all events are viable and executed to a high standard. You will be responsible for organising high profile and large scale events. The role would suit candidates with proven event management experience whereby you are overseeing a small team and are familiar with organising a range of events ideally based off site. We can consider applicants with events experience gained from any industry sector.

Managing a small team of 2 with responsibility for the organisation of high profile and large scale events you will be located at our Head Office in Farnham working as part of our wider management team. You must have proven experience in a busy environment, managing a team and have strong organisational skills, process management and the ability to prioritise work and work well under pressure. You should have previously created and overseen a budget, be accurate with have an eye for detail, as well as being a strong team player with excellent communication skills and the ability to be flexible and adaptable.
Paying up to £40k depending on experience, the working hours are 37.5 hours per week Mon to Fri with the potential for occasional WFH once training is complete, with free parking, 22 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas shut down, pension and a friendly and professional working environment. There are occasional weekend or evening hours required for major annual events but payment is made at double time or time off in lieu.

Reporting to the Head of Events, the role responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Team Management
• Leading and motivating the events team to deliver high quality events and experiences for the Membership.
• Monitoring and managing the teams workload.
• Dealing with any sickness, absences, HR issues and holidays within the team.
• Running PDR meetings throughout the year to keep the team on top of their goals.
• Organising training for the team.
• Running team meetings to update the team on all events coming up.
• Ultimately responsible for GDPR for events including the inbox and GDrive.

Budgets
• Responsible for the annual events budgets/codes which are set at the start of each financial year.
• Final budget sign off on shows and events.
• Ensuring that the team are putting on profit making events.

Events
• Shaping any new event ideas that come in alongside Team Leaders.
• Overseeing all events, across the year.
• Future planning to ensure a range of events are being offered across the membership.

Training / Comms
• Running events training for new Team Leaders.
• Updating Regionals on any system changes, embargos, new events or anything else that would need communicating to all Team Leaders.
• Dealing with any Team Leader or Member complaints that may be escalated to Managers level.
• Having a presence at pre term to engage with Leaders. Once a year or more, running round robin sessions. Occasionally presenting to all leaders when necessary.
• Communicating events to Heads of departments whose teams may be affected.
• Running event promotion meetings to ensure the wider team are promoting events as necessary.

The successful candidate must be a car driver and will have experience working in an events management role where they have previously managed a team of people. You should be able to demonstrate you have strong organisational skills and enjoy working in a busy environment with experience of financial management of an event or department. You must be a strong team player and have strong organisational capability and process management skills.

In return we can offer a salary up to £40k plus benefits, on site parking and some hybrid hours, working a 37.5 hour week with some flexibility to start and finish times.
