The Role
We are currently recruiting for Exam Technicians to join the team supporting the Class 701 fleet at Wimbledon.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the examination, maintenance, repair and fault finding of Class 701 units, ensuring trains remain safe, reliable and available for service.
You will carry out planned and corrective maintenance in accordance with Vehicle Maintenance Instructions (VMIs), complete accurate maintenance documentation and diagnose technical faults.
The role is safety-critical and requires a strong focus on compliance with depot procedures, quality standards and Health & Safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out planned and corrective maintenance on Class 701 rolling stock in accordance with Vehicle Maintenance Instructions. Examine trains and identify defects, faults and areas requiring remedial work. Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance, repairs and component replacement. Diagnose and investigate basic technical faults. Complete accurate maintenance records and documentation using relevant maintenance management systems. Produce technical and investigation reports where required. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with depot procedures, safety standards and safety-critical requirements. Operate depot equipment safely and effectively. Support depot quality, performance and availability targets. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement activities. Support and coach colleagues in maintenance best practice where required. Maintain a high standard of housekeeping and ensure a safe working environment. Escalate more complex faults or issues where appropriate.Shift Pattern

The Exam Technician role is mechanically biased and requires an NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline. Rolling stock maintenance experience - essential. A proven track record of completing safety-critical work. Strong electrical and mechanical maintenance experience. Ability to read, interpret and work from electrical and pneumatic schematic drawings. Experience using maintenance management systems for work recording and asset management. Strong understanding of Health & Safety requirements within a safety-critical environment. Ability to accurately complete maintenance records, documentation and technical reports. A methodical approach to fault finding and problem solving. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. A strong commitment to safety, quality and maintaining fleet availability.INDTR-BR
