EXCAVATOR DRIVER

An opportunity has arisen for a 360 Excavator Driver to join the North Level District Internal Drainage Board. You will become part of the Board’s operational team based at Thorney and will be responsible for operating the Boards long reach excavator to undertake channel maintenance activities.
You will be required to operate efficiently and safely to undertake the work instructed by the Works Supervisor. Applicants need to be enthusiastic, conscientious and self-motivated with the ability to work both alone and as a team member.

Remuneration:

Hours - 38 hours per week plus overtime during weed cutting season
Basic rate of pay - £15.72 per hour
Overtime - 1.5 times the hourly rate
Vehicle - A van will be provided for work use only
Travel time paid to and from site
Option to join the LGPS pension scheme
You will be expected to work overtime (up to an additional 34 hours) during the cutting season (August to November). There will also be opportunities for overtime during the remainder of the year depending on work schedules.

Duties:
Operating the Boards long reach EC250 excavator, works to include:

• Weed basket channel maintenance
• Piling work
• Culvert construction
• Use of hydraulic tree shears
• Bank reforming
• Dredging
The above list is not exhaustive and may vary from time to time.

Other duties:

• Comply with the Board’s health and safety rules
• Undertake routine maintenance and daily checks on plant and machinery
• Logging issues and progress on the tablet mapping system
• Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required by the Board to manage water levels within the district

Essential skills required:
CITB or equivalent training in excavator driving
Must hold a full/valid UK driving licence
Good knowledge and understanding of all aspects of health and safety at work
Good timekeeping skills

Desirable skills:
New Roads and Street Works training would be advantageous.
(full training will be provided on all aspects of the job as and when required)
