Base Location: Alfreton, Derbyshire (with regular travel across Northern UK)

Are you a qualified engineer or quarrying professional with a passion for precision, technology, and the great outdoors? We’re looking for a motivated Explosives Engineer – Metrics to join a leading provider in the explosives and quarrying services sector.

About the Role:

This is a unique opportunity to apply your technical knowledge in a dynamic field-based role. You’ll be based out of Alfreton, Derbyshire a few days per week, with regular travel to quarry sites across the North of England. Working closely with both internal teams and external clients, you’ll support on blast measurement, performance analysis, and the ongoing development of industry-leading technologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site blast performance measurements and data collection (including vibration monitoring and fragmentation analysis)
• Calibrate and maintain blasting and monitoring equipment
• Carry out drone surveys and interpret results
• Provide technical support and consultancy to clients and internal teams
• Assist in the development of bespoke blasting technologies and solutions
• Support industry training sessions and seminars
• Maintain a strong commitment to safety, compliance, and best practice at all times

What We’re Looking For

• A degree or master’s in engineering, quarrying, or a related discipline is essential
• Full UK driving licence (essential due to the field-based nature of the role)
• Drone and/or blast monitoring experience is highly desirable
• A practical, hands-on approach with excellent problem-solving skills
