Fabric Engineer Central London UniversityTemporary Ongoing Contract We are currently seeking an experienced Fabric Engineer to join the estates and facilities team of a prestigious university based in Central London. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a diverse and historic campus environment, supporting the maintenance and upkeep of academic, residential, and commercial buildings.This ongoing temporary position is ideal for a skilled fabric maintenance professional who takes pride in delivering high-quality repairs and maintaining safe, welcoming environments for students, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
Carrying out planned and reactive fabric maintenance across university buildings. Undertaking general building repairs including carpentry, painting and decorating, plastering, tiling, and basic masonry work. Repairing doors, locks, windows, flooring, ceilings, and fixtures. Conducting routine inspections to identify fabric-related defects and maintenance requirements. Assisting with office moves, room set-ups, and minor refurbishment projects. Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with health and safety regulations and university procedures. Liaising with facilities teams, contractors, and end users to minimise disruption and ensure excellent customer service. Accurately recording completed works using maintenance management systems where required.Candidate Requirements
Previous experience working as a Fabric Engineer, Maintenance Operative, Handyperson, Carpenter, or in a similar building maintenance role. Strong practical skills across a range of fabric trades. Experience working within commercial buildings, universities, hospitals, public sector environments, or large estates would be advantageous. Good understanding of health and safety practices. Ability to work independently and prioritise a varied workload. Strong communication and customer service skills. Relevant trade qualifications are desirable but not essential.What's on Offer
