Job Title: Fabricator / Welder

About Our Client

Our client is looking for an experienced Fabricator / Welder to join their team in Walsall. You will be responsible for the manufacture of medium to heavy, temporary, and permanent fabrication structures-working directly from drawings provided by the office team and following established company processes.

As part of the fabrications operations team, you will provide operational support across the business, maintaining high quality standards and strict safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

Operational & Workshop

Read and work directly from controlled engineering drawings, cutting, tacking, welding, and drilling materials within specified tolerances.

Document all materials used for full traceability (confirming cast numbers where required) and complete workshop checklists throughout production.

Operate overhead cranes safely for workshop manufacturing activities.

Safely destroy superseded drawings when revisions are issued.

Assist with Goods In processes by unloading deliveries, checking items against supplier documentation, verifying material certificates, and handing paperwork to the office team.

Provide on-site installation support when required.

Quality & Commercial

Produce daily timesheets detailing all working hours and associated job numbers.

Maintain accurate stock usage, conduct stock audits, and support the business during annual stock checks.

Complete WPS checks on team members' work.

Ensure all finished goods are securely wrapped, banded, and packaged per delivery requirements.

Maintain clear communication with Team Leaders and management regarding timescales and project progress.

HSEQ & Safety

Carry out all tasks in line with Risk Assessments and report accidents or Positive Interventions using correct company procedures.

Wear required PPE at all times and maintain high standards of housekeeping across the depot to prevent waste and hazards.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria:

Proven experience in medium to heavy fabrications and welding procedures (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent).

Valid CSCS Card.

Certified and experienced in operating an Overhead Crane.

Qualified to use Plasma / Oxy-fuel cutting equipment.

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures accurately.

Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Desirable Criteria:

Previous on-site installation work experience.

Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence.

Valid Full UK Driving Licence.

Key Performance Indicators

Consistently completing work within agreed production timescales.

Maintaining exceptional quality and cleanliness in the workshop area.

Active waste reduction and stock accuracy.
