About the role:
The Facilities & Engineered Equipment (F&EE) Category Manager assists the F&EE Senior Category Manager in the management of key categories or sub-categories of spend working closely with others in support of the F&EE global category.
They undertake category management and global supplier relationship management, to drive end-to-end spend management to mitigate supply chain risk and improve value delivery, including sustainability, within their category. They do this through collaborating across and beyond procurement, including with regional, business, and FB&T resources.
They know the F&EE categories well and support development of innovative strategies which deliver business objectives and strong category guidance which ensures efficient end to end category execution. They work with regional and GBS resources for optimal, compliant, and competitive procurement outcomes, collaborating across and beyond procurement.
Problem solvers with good commercial acumen, they create solutions to category challenges, they cultivate senior partner relationships and work with businesses to understand their evolving needs alongside developing insights into supply markets, including disruptors and technological advances.
They bring value through orchestrating development of ground-breaking strategies in support of bp’s strategy, collaborating cross-functionally to realize identified value and working with delivery teams to ensure that their global strategies are accomplished locally.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Handle relationship/GA for 1-2 Strategic F&EE suppliers.
- Coordinate and handle the delivery of the F&EE key initiatives including:
- Delivery of the F&EE cost challenge through collaborating with the F&EE team.
- Development and finalisation of the F&EE Category Guidance.
- Finalisation of the F&EE direct procurement strategy to be used in Projects.
- Supporting delivery of F&EE procurement delivery in European refineries through direct reports.
- Maintains a deep understanding of the supply market and builds collaborative supplier relationships to drive productivity through simplification and standardization opportunities.
- Monitors and reacts to contractor performance, provides input into investigations and takes appropriate actions.
Key Accountabilities:
- Build their external networks and expertise as a key part of supporting the category development
- Skillfully navigates bp’s complex operational frameworks, guaranteeing consistent strategy delivery and uninterrupted supply flow to make procurement easier for suppliers and partners to work with.
- Considers regional factors like laws, taxes, and market conditions in category management planning.
- Cultivates purposeful partnerships and robust supplier relationships to navigate business challenges and unlock
- leverage digital solutions to drive innovation, enhancing efficiency, effectiveness and value creation
- Partner with internal field teams to drive category excellence
- Use influencing, storytelling and communication to encourage adoption
- Build category knowledge across the wider procurement organization to ensure strategy execution
- Develops their technical capabilities in order to deliver category operational excellence
- Adopts accelerator skills; curiosity in external markets, innovation and technological disruption, digital fluency, data-driven insights, and collaboration with both suppliers and customers
- Adopts an environment of psychological safety as a foundation for collaborative learning, ideation and innovation triple bottom line (people, profit & planet) value
- Leads and influences through complexity and ambiguity, handling virtual relationships with collaborators in multi-discipline, multi-cultural environments
- Unites diverse partners, ensuring both advantageous supply avenues and collaborative solutions to business challenges
- Builds customer relationships, bringing market insights and championing supplier value whilst taking time to understand business needs. Becomes a trusted advisor and critical partner to interested parties
- Prepares documentation and relevant partner communication to enable key decision forums
Essential Experience and Job Requirements:
- An understanding of how to ensure strategies flow through to execution in the businesses / assets
- An ability to develop an understanding of the supported businesses / regions / assets and its objectives
- Knowledge of procurement within a complex multinational business
- Knowledge in relevant procurement categories with an understanding of the market's dynamics and its influence on procurement strategies
- Experience in leading initiatives internationally, recognizing cultural nuances, analyzing data-driven trends & insights, and employing agile/flexible approaches
- An advocate for our code, they incorporate the Operating Management System (OMS) and our safety leadership principles into strategies and everyday work
- Adopts industry challenges and technological disruption, Pioneers innovative solutions whilst leading risk
- Develop strong supplier relationships, bringing multiple parties together to collaboratively solve complex business problems
- Translates business requirements into a strategic category plan
- Partner networking and influencing skills to ensure agreement and adoption
- Regular interaction with external suppliers and representing bp externally
- Effective change management
- Persevering through organizational complexity and resistance to change
Desirable criteria:
- Strong experience in P&O
- confirmed experience in Category Management and Procurement (P2P), including strategy development, sourcing, contracting and supplier management experience across multiple categories.
- Strong eye for business to unlock value, track record of collaboration, able to deliver agile solutions to the business, try new ways of working and displays a growth mindset.
- Experience of sourcing, negotiations and leading contracts with international suppliers.
- Excellent communicator who demonstrates an ability to develop high quality, trust-based relationships with colleagues and with the wider organization - leaders and employees.
- Excellent demonstration of business integrity, values and behaviours.
- Skilled at leading and influencing teams through complexity & ambiguity, developing capability and completing in multi-stakeholder, multi-discipline, multi-cultural environments, and providing solutions to regional and country-specific issues and challenges.
- Able to work under pressure to initiate actions, prioritise and make decisions, skilled at fostering internal alignment among senior collaborators with competing priorities.
