Location: Coypool, Plympton (travel required across 5 Plymouth sites) Hours: Mon–Thu 07:30–16:30 | Fri 07:30–12:30 On-site: 4.5 days per week
The Role
To lead and manage the maintenance of buildings, facilities and operational equipment across multiple sites, ensuring all assets remain safe, functional, and well-maintained. The role partners closely with internal operations teams and external contractors to deliver a consistent, high-quality facilities service across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee all building and facilities maintenance activities, ensuring reactive repairs are completed promptly and efficiently.
* Manage equipment maintenance programmes, coordinating and supervising third-party contractors where required.
* Ensure all employees and contractors adhere to site safety standards, driving improvements in contractor control and compliance.
* Monitor equipment performance and availability, providing insight, analysis, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
* Collaborate with Operations to manage day-to-day equipment issues, prioritise workloads, and coordinate planned maintenance shutdowns.
* Develop and implement preventative maintenance strategies in partnership with the Facilities Management team.
* Support Engineering with new equipment installations, including contractor coordination and on-site management.
* Oversee waste management processes, ensuring all activities comply with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
* Participate in an on-call rota, responding to emergencies and following established escalation procedures.
* Source and manage subcontractor quotations, contributing to CAPEX and OPEX planning and budget management.
* Deputise for the Facilities Manager during periods of absence.
* Take ownership of designated workstreams aligned to your expertise, promoting best practice and building strong supplier relationships.
Person Specification
* Proven experience managing contractors and third-party service providers.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experienced with CAFM systems.
* Strong communication skills with a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
* Extensive experience in a similar role, ideally within industrial, logistics, manufacturing, or other fast-paced operational environments.
* Highly organised, with strong time management and prioritisation skills.
* Able to perform effectively under pressure within a cross-functional team environment.
* Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
* Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
