Facilities Maintenance Technician

Location: Marlow, Bucks
Salary: £30,000–£35,000 depending on experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
Contract: Permanent

We’re looking for a practical and proactive Facilities Maintenance Technician to take responsibility for the day-to-day maintenance, upkeep and presentation of a commercial site.

This is a varied, hands-on role covering both internal building maintenance and external grounds. No two days will be exactly the same, so this would suit someone who enjoys practical problem-solving, takes pride in their surroundings and likes taking ownership of getting things sorted.

Key Responsibilities of the Facilities Maintenance Technician:

* Carry out general building maintenance and minor repairs.

* Complete basic plumbing, carpentry, joinery, painting and decorating tasks within your level of competency.

* Repair or replace basic fixtures and fittings.

* Adjust doors, locks, handles, shelving and furniture.

* Investigate straightforward building faults and escalate specialist work where required.

* Assist with furniture moves and room set-ups.

* Keep maintenance, storage and plant areas safe, tidy and organised.

* Maintain external areas including grass cutting, hedge trimming, weeding and strimming.

* Carry out leaf, debris and general external clearance.

* Maintain pathways, entrances, landscaped areas and car parks.

* Support seasonal maintenance including snow and ice preparation.

* Carry out routine building and maintenance checks following appropriate training.

* Record completed maintenance work and report defects promptly.

* Respond to reactive maintenance issues including leaks, drainage problems and minor damage.

* Liaise with and support external contractors attending site.

* Maintain tools, equipment and maintenance stock.

* Identify replacement parts and materials required.

* Keep accurate maintenance records and provide updates on completed work.

* Proactively identify issues before they develop into larger problems.

Key Requirements of the Facilities Maintenance Technician:

* Previous experience within building maintenance, facilities maintenance, property maintenance, grounds maintenance or a similar practical role.

* Strong general DIY and maintenance skills.

* Confident using common hand and power tools safely.

* Comfortable carrying out both indoor and outdoor work throughout the year.

* Good practical problem-solving skills.

* Able to work independently and organise your own workload.

* Able to recognise when specialist or regulated work needs to be escalated.

* Reliable, proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks.

* Good communication skills and attention to detail.

* Comfortable using a phone, tablet or computer to update maintenance records.

Experience within basic plumbing, carpentry, decorating, commercial facilities maintenance, grounds maintenance or planned preventative maintenance would be beneficial.

Knowledge of water hygiene, fire-door checks, manual handling, working at height or qualifications such as PASMA/IPAF would also be useful, although training can be provided where appropriate.

A full UK driving licence would be beneficial.
