A well‑established manufacturing business operating in a fast‑moving, highly regulated environment. The site works to strict standards around safety, compliance and engineering reliability. With continued investment and planned site development, they are now looking for a Facilities & Projects Manager to take ownership of the facility, manage contractors and support building and infrastructure projects.
This role blends day‑to‑day facilities management with hands‑on project coordination. You will work closely with the Operations Director to deliver site improvements, oversee compliance and support a shared facility arrangement with an on‑site customer.
The Role
The Facilities & Projects Manager will oversee the safe, efficient and compliant operation of all site facilities, ensuring building infrastructure, utilities and services are maintained to a high standard.
The role has a strong project management element. You will act as the main point of contact for building contractors, support scope development, manage RFQs, coordinate project delivery and ensure works are completed safely and to the required standard. You will also manage RAMS, permit‑to‑work systems, statutory inspections and contractor onboarding, including responsibilities linked to a shared/sub‑let facility arrangement.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee day‑to‑day operation of the manufacturing facility, ensuring all infrastructure is maintained to a high standard Manage planned and reactive maintenance across buildings, plant services, utilities and site equipment Ensure site services including HVAC, waste, cleaning and security remain reliable and cost‑effective Develop and implement preventative maintenance programmes Act as the primary point of contact for building contractors and project managers Support building and infrastructure projects from concept through to completion Assist with scope definition, RFQ processes, contractor selection and award decisions Coordinate on‑site project delivery, ensuring safe working practices, compliance and quality Review and implement RAMS and manage permit‑to‑work systems Lead statutory inspections, audits and facilities‑related compliance activity Manage external contractors and service providers, ensuring performance, quality and cost control Oversee contractor onboarding and documentation, reducing reliance on external property management services Act as the main point of contact for the customer operating within the shared facility Coordinate shared services including utilities, access, maintenance and service levels Support customer operational requirements while protecting core business needs Develop and manage facilities budgets, controlling costs across utilities, maintenance and services Identify opportunities for cost savings, efficiency improvements and sustainability initiatives Lead site improvement projects including layout changes and infrastructure upgrades Support future site‑development plans and continuous improvement activity The Person
Background in facilities management, property management or a related field Experience managing building maintenance, utilities or site services Experience coordinating contractors and overseeing project delivery Strong understanding of health and safety legislation, risk assessments and compliance requirements Experience managing budgets and controlling expenditure Confident reviewing RAMS and managing permit‑to‑work systems Strong project management and organisational skills Effective communicator able to work with contractors, suppliers, internal teams and customers Able to prioritise workloads and manage multiple projects simultaneously Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and facilities management systems IWFM, NEBOSH or IOSH qualifications desirable Keywords
