Family Hub Teacher

Job Description - Family Hub Teacher

Connect2Hackney are Hackney Council's internal recruitment partner and we are currently recruiting a dedicated and inspirational Early Years Teacher (with mandatory QTS) to take on an impactful, cross-site leadership role supporting both Woodberry Down Children and Family Hub and Hillside Children's Centre.

Hackney's Children and Family Hubs represent an integrated, multi-agency approach that supports children from pre-birth right up to the start of primary school. By working across both Woodberry Down and Hillside, you will sit right at the heart of our community, shaping pedagogical practice, mentoring staff, and ensuring every local child receives the highest standard of early education and care.

Locations: Woodberry Down Children & Family Hub (N4) & Hillside Children's Centre (N16)

The Opportunity

As our specialist Early Years Teacher, you will act as a pedagogical lead across both settings, driving the quality of learning for children aged birth to 5 years.

Key areas of focus include:

Designing, delivering, and evaluating an ambitious, play-based EYFS curriculum across indoor and outdoor spaces.
Working alongside early years practitioners, nursery officers, and students; sharing best practice, guiding observations, and building assessment frameworks that track progress effectively.
Operating within the SEND Code of Practice, differentiating learning, and liaising with specialist teams (such as Speech and Language Therapy and Children & Family Services) so all children can thrive.
Building strong relationships with parents and carers, hosting workshops, keeping them actively informed on their child's development, and supporting smooth home-to-centre and school transitions.
Championing a culture where children's voices, ideas, and home languages are actively heard, respected, and embedded in daily activities.

Who We Are Looking For

Holding QTS is an essential requirement for this post.
Proven post-qualification teaching experience with 3-5 year olds, with a solid understanding of or experience with birth-3 development and non-school integrated centre environments.
Deep knowledge of early childhood development, observation-led planning, positive behaviour support, and the EYFS framework.
Proven ability to work seamlessly within multidisciplinary teams across more than one setting.
Dedication to equal opportunities, anti-discriminatory practice, and celebrating Hackney's rich cultural diversity.

Why Join Hackney Through Connect2Hackney?

Direct guidance and support from the in-house talent team throughout the recruitment and onboarding journey.
Competitive Inner London pay scale accompanied by a recruitment allowance.
Continuous professional development, training workshops, and peer networks across Hackney's early years services.
The chance to make a real, measurable difference to children and families across the borough.

Safeguarding

London Borough of Hackney and Connect2Hackney are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. This post involves regulated activity and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, pre-employment reference checks, and verification of teaching qualifications.
