Paralegal – Family Law Department

Location: Ashton-under-Lyme
Salary: Market rate, dependent on experience
Job Type: Full-time

Overview:

Our client is seeking a motivated and experienced Paralegal to join their Family Law Department.

This role is ideal for a paralegal with prior experience in family law and an interest in progressing toward qualification (including Training Contract opportunities).

The successful candidate will provide essential legal and administrative support across a range of family law matters.

Areas of Work:

You will be involved in supporting cases relating to:

Divorce and separation
Financial remedy disputes
Civil partnership disputes
Rights of unmarried and cohabiting couples
Private law children matters
Domestic abuse matters

Please note: This role does not include child care proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting with new client enquiries and initial assessments
Supporting legal surgery sessions within the department
Undertaking fee-earning work under appropriate supervision
Handling administrative tasks related to client matters
Preparing and submitting Legal Aid funding applications
Contributing to marketing and business development efforts, including networking with local referral agencies

Requirements:

Previous experience in family law is essential
Familiarity with the Legal Aid scheme is highly desirable
Strong communication, organisational, and client care skills
Ability to work well within a team and under supervision
Interest in pursuing further legal qualifications welcomed
