The Fault Analysis Technician is responsible for the safe, controlled, and efficient day-to-day operation of fault analysis teardown and investigation activities
The role supports Fault Analysis Engineers in defining investigation requirements and ensures all activities are executed in accordance with approved procedures, with full traceability and documentation.They ensure that teardown and investigation outputs are accurate, complete, and recorded in line with Quality Management System requirements, enabling effective root cause analysis and customer reporting.
The Technician drives continuous improvement within the fault analysis workshop, ensuring safe working practices, optimised workflows, and effective utilisation of equipment and resources. This includes maintaining secure, controlled, and traceable handling of motors, components, and associated materials.
The role requires on-site presence to provide direct supervision and support of investigations. Travel is limited to YASA locations.
Key responsibilities will include:
Ensure all fault analysis activities are conducted safely and in accordance with approved procedures and risk assessments.
Perform and oversee structured teardown and examination of motors and components in line with defined investigation requirements.
Manage and prioritise daily workflow based on investigation needs, returns volume, and customer impact.
Maintain accurate, complete, and traceable records of all activities and findings in line with Quality Management System requirements.
Control the secure handling, identification, and storage of motors, components, and evidence.
Maintain an organised, audit-ready workshop environment with calibrated and suitable tools and equipment.
Support Engineers by executing investigation procedures, tests, and experiments with disciplined data capture and adherence to defined methods.
Skills and experience :
To have worked in a similar, relevant environment (e.g. automotive, aerospace, precision engineering).
To have worked in a practical, hands-on role and to be familiar with the use of hand tools and measuring equipment.
The ability to construct simple test fixtures.
A relevant apprenticeship, vocational qualification or technical certificate, or completion of a relevant technical vocational training scheme is desirable.
Experience of simple instrumentation, sensors and data logging systems is desirable.
Use of Microsoft Office programs – Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams.
