Finance Assistant

JHE & Partners are excited to be working with a growing business based in Wakefield to recruit a Finance Assistant on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking company that values accuracy, teamwork, and continuous improvement within their finance function.

You will be reporting into the Finance Director who fully supports their staff. Whether you're already AAT qualified or currently studying and eager to develop your skills, this role offers a supportive environment to thrive. Hours: Mon-Thurs 9:00am - 4:45pm | Fri 8:30am - 3:00pm.

Key Responsibilities

• Record daily cash receipts and bank transactions in SAP
• Input supplier invoices and assist in managing goods received and nominal ledgers
• Prepare bank payments and internal transfers with accuracy and timeliness
• Reconcile customer and supplier accounts, resolving discrepancies in collaboration with colleagues
• Maintain accurate bank reconciliations across multiple accounts
• Support credit control efforts and maintain strong customer relationships to manage aged debt
• Run payroll for hourly-paid employees via Sage 50, including timesheet processing
• Help maintain HR records for holidays, absences, and sickness
• Oversee office supplies, PPE, and uniform stock levels
• Process and manage purchasing orders and build rapport with suppliers
• Prepare month-end journals including payroll, depreciation, and bank entries
• Recommend and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in finance processes
• Ensure compliance with internal financial procedures and policies
