Finance Manager (FTC – 9 to 12 Months)

Contract Type: Fixed-Term Contract (9–12 months)

Are you an experienced finance professional looking for a commercially focused role within a dynamic and fast-paced SME environment? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Temporary Finance Manager to join a long-established and respected family-run business in the fresh produce industry.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take full responsibility for the finance function, including the mentoring and development of the existing Finance Officer. This hands-on and strategic role will involve everything from financial reporting and budgeting to payroll and commercial analysis, helping to shape informed decisions that support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coach and develop the Finance Officer with key focus on balance sheet reconciliation and management accounts
• Financial and management reporting
• Weekly and monthly payroll
• Support the Finance officer with the day-to-day Bookkeeping and balance sheet reconciliations
• Budgeting and cash management
• Compliance and risk
• Assisting auditors with the statutory accounts
• Making commercial and strategic recommendations to the business.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Formal accountancy qualification (CIMA, ACCA, ACA) or QBE
• Demonstrable experience mentoring junior staff
• Strong commercial acumen and decision-making capabilities
• Excellent MS Excel proficiency
• Highly effective communication and presentation skills
• Ability to turn complex data into actionable insights
• Comfortable working with stakeholders at all levels
• Experience with Opera or similar financial systems
