Job Description - Finance Manager

Elevation Recruitment Group are delighted to be working with a successful and leading UK manufacturing business in Sheffield as they look to recruit an experienced Finance Manager into the team.

This role has come about due to a recent internal promotion and will oversee the day-to-day financial operations, managing a team of 4 in finance. The role will also provide strategic insights and support the financial reporting process.

  • Hours are 8.30 - 4.45pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30 - 3pm on Fridays based full time in the office.

    This will be a varied role with duties to include: -

  • Prepare monthly management accounts, KPIs, and variance analysis
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting in line with UK GAAP/IFRS
  • Produce and present financial reports to senior leadership
  • Lead the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes
  • Track performance against budgets and provide insight on deviations
  • Support operational decision-making with financial modelling and scenario planning
  • Analyse and monitor manufacturing costs, overheads, and margins
  • Work closely with operations to track and improve cost efficiencies
  • Manage stock valuation and support inventory control processes
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, including forecasting and planning
  • Oversee banking relationships and optimise working capital
  • Ensure robust credit control and debtor management
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations (VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax)
  • Liaise with external auditors and manage the year-end audit process
  • Maintain and improve internal controls and financial procedures
  • Supervise and develop a small finance team
  • Drive process improvements and system enhancements across finance
  • Promote a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

    The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experiences: -

  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified or QBE with a minimum 5 years' experience in a similar finance role
  • Experience within the manufacturing sector would be ideal although not essential
  • Strong knowledge of UK accounting standards and HMRC compliance
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Sage, SAP, or similar)
  • Proven ability to partner with non-finance departments (e.g., production, operations)
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
  • Collaborative approach to work
  • Excellent communicator (Both verbally and written)
