JOB TITLE: Finance Manager

LOCATION: Salisbury - office based (some home working)

PACKAGE: £25 - 28 per hour

WAY OF WORKING: Mostly office based

THE BUSINESS:

My client is a family owned and highly manufacturing company with a superb reputation in their industry.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

As Finance Manager, you will oversee all aspects of the company's day to day financial operations. This is a key role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced SME environment and is familiar with managing both domestic and international (European) trading operations, including currency considerations, cross-border VAT, and international logistics support

Key responsibilities:

• Financial Management & Reporting
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts, and budget analyses
  • Provide insightful reporting, particularly around sector-specific profitability and international sales performance
  • Manage year-end close and liaise with external accountants
• Compliance & Controls
  • Ensure full compliance with UK statutory requirements, VAT, and payroll
  • Manage cross-border VAT compliance for EU sales and purchases
  • Implement and maintain effective internal financial controls and procedures
• Operational Finance
  • Responsible for purchase ledger, sales ledger, payroll, and banking operations
  • Manage product costings and stock control
  • Support supplier negotiations and financial logistics, especially for European and food service clients
  • Contribute to ERP implementation and process improvements

Key Skills required:

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant
• At least 3 years of experience in an SME finance role, ideally with exposure to manufacturing, food production, or FMCG
• Experience of international trading, ideally within the EU
• A good working knowledge of UK accounting standards, VAT, and experience of cross-border compliance within the EU.
• Excellent Excel skills
• Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, and commercially astute
• An excellent communicator with good time management skills
• Able to understand complex financial issues
