We are working with a well-established and growing business based in Hertford who are looking to appoint a Finance Manager to join their close-knit team of 11. Reporting directly to the Director, this is a key role that combines hands-on day-to-day finance responsibilities with supporting the wider financial direction of the business.

The role would suit a proactive and commercially minded finance professional who enjoys taking ownership, working across the business, and making a real impact. You’ll be confident managing a varied workload and providing clear financial insight to support decision-making, while fitting naturally into a vibrant and people-focused team culture.
Key Responsibilities:
* Processing monthly payroll and ensuring accurate PAYE reporting and HMRC payments
* Managing pension administration, including new starters and contribution checks
* Preparing and submitting P11D returns and PSA payments
* Completing quarterly VAT returns and supporting all HMRC compliance requirements
* Managing supplier payments, cash flow, and FX requirements
* Preparing month-end accounts, including accruals and prepayments
* Producing and presenting management accounts to Directors and attending SMT meetings
* Managing, training, and supporting the finance team, while liaising with Operations and supporting ad hoc tasks.
Oversight Responsibilities:
* Weekly customer billing
* Haulage accruals
* Plant accruals
* Invoice processing
The successful candidate will have:
* A minimum of 5 years' experience within a finance role, ideally at a senior level.
* Be fully AAT qualified and have completed, or be nearing completion of, a professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or CIMA.
* Strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyse data and produce accurate financial reports.
* Previous experience managing and developing staff.
* Proven experience in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
* The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with banks, external auditors, and other key stakeholders.
* Experience working in a similar senior finance position, with strong organisational, communication, and leadership skills.
