Our client is a privately owned engineering business with a rich heritage supplying equipment and services to a loyal customer base. Due to an impending retirement they are now looking to recruit a Finance Manager who can become a key part of the team and support the MD shaping the business and delivering their vision for growth. The ideal candidate would be looking for a position with the opportunity to have a real input by getting involved in a variety of projects to improve the business by driving efficiency and profitability. The MD is a real advocate of continuous staff development and is keen to appoint someone who is eager to learn and embrace their culture of collaboration and delivery of excellent service to their customers. The main responsibilities of this role will be: Producing the management accounts pack including full P&L, balance sheet and cashflow statement
Managing the month end close ensuring accounting transactions are recorded accurately
Developing budgets and forecasts, producing variance analysis
Analysis of trading performance for each division including margins and costs etc.
Working with operational management teams to develop KPIs
Overseeing sales and purchase ledger, credit control / daily cash management duties
Producing VAT returns, payroll and HMRC matters
Preparation for year end and liaising with accountants This role is all about demonstrating your potential and you can expect to get involved in a number of interesting projects. They have recently introduced a new ERP system that will require reports developing to really make it add value by capturing data from the warehouse, controlling costs and providing insight into margins. To be successful in this Finance Manager role you must be hands on and take pride in ownership of your work, addressing the daily details to ensure the accounting function runs smoothly. Previous experience of a Finance Manager / Management Accountant / Company Accountant role in an SME finance department will be essential. Preferred candidates would be minimum AAT qualified and ideally studying towards CIMA / ACCA or QBE, applicants also looking to move straight from accountancy practice would also be considered favourably.
