Salary:

From £60,000

We have an exciting opportunity for a Finance manager to join our Financial Reporting team. The Financial Reporting team sits at the heart of Nationwide’s internal and external reporting and is accountable for delivering high quality statutory and regulatory financial reporting. The team ensures all reporting is compliant with regulations, accounting standards and best practice, developing accounting policies and providing specialist technical accounting advice on a range of issues, as well as managing the relationship with the external auditors. The team is also responsible for technical accounting, IFRS 9 reporting and Treasury Finance.

Our team comprises individuals with a wide range of experiences who are building processes and capability to meet current and future requirements.

As a Finance Manager in the team, you will be accountable for executing on the team vision, ensuring that our reporting is always delivered on time, in line with regulatory requirements and free from errors. You will be responsible for reviewing work and running processes which may incorporate inputs from multiple contributors across the Society.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, at one of our offices in Swindon or London, with monthly travel to Swindon, if you're based in London.

What you’ll be doing

You will be working in an agile environment, expected to make decisions at pace. You will understand the importance of controls in the reporting which we do and be able to deliver to a high quality.

You will be demonstrating your strong leadership skills as you coordinate and lead in a fast-paced environment with multiple stakeholders and priorities. You will be speaking to colleagues regularly to ensure that they can deliver information to you in a controlled and timely manner.

You will be excellent at managing stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds, both internally and externally, at all levels of the organisation. You will be skilled at generating a culture of collaboration across numerous pieces of work and managing conflicting accountabilities.

You’ll work closely with colleagues and senior leaders within the Financial Reporting team and be expected to express your opinions in a clear and professional manner. You have an important role to make sure that the requirements are understood and can clearly articulate the vision of the future to everyone.

About you

At a minimum you will be:
An experienced accountant with relevant qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Able to display stakeholder management and relationship building skills, at all levels of the organisation
Able to make decisions independently, keeping relevant parties informed
Able to manage multiple conflicting priorities and identify the right course of action for the Society.

It would be great if you also had:
Experience of working within a large financial services organisation
Experience of the consolidation of multiple pieces of financial information
