Job Description - Finance Operations Compliance Manager

My client an international law firm are seeking a Financial Operations Compliance Manager with a strong background in accounting principles and compliance standards. This role is crucial for implementing and monitoring control measures within their finance operations, focusing on accounts payable. The ideal candidate will manage audits, work closely with internal stakeholders, and continuously enhance our compliance framework.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Compliance Oversight: Develop and maintain accounts payable and expenses policies and procedures in compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Update processes according to changes in accounting standards and tax requirements.
  • Audit Management: Coordinate responses to internal and external audits focusing on finance operations, particularly accounts payable. Prepare necessary documentation and reports for auditors.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments related to finance operational processes, identifying potential compliance risks and control weaknesses.
  • Vendor Due Diligence & Reconciliations: Manage a vendor due diligence process to assess and monitor compliance. Ensure vendors meet both the firm’s and external clients' compliance standards. Manage finance and accounting supplier reconciliations.
  • Training and Education: Collaborate with the Accounts Payable Manager to develop training programs on compliance, policies, and procedures. Keep the finance team updated on changes in compliance requirements.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance compliance and efficiency.
  • Reporting: Generate and analyse compliance metrics reports. Provide regular updates to management on compliance status.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with the Financial Control team to ensure a comprehensive approach to compliance. Communicate requirements to relevant stakeholders effectively.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar role with strong regulatory knowledge.
  • Background in audit and/or compliance preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of or part-qualified in ICAS, ACCA, CIMA, or ICAEW, or qualified by experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to lead, train, and implement changes effectively.
