Location: Tamworth
Salary: £28, 000 rising to £32, 000 after successful probation period
Hours: Monday to Thursday 9.00am – 5.30pm, Friday 9.00am – 3.00pm
Contract: Permanent

Our client is an established international automotive organisation with a strong presence across Europe and the UK. As part of their continued growth, they are looking for a Finance Specialist to join their UK Finance team and provide support across a broad range of accounting, reporting and financial control activities.

This is a varied role for someone with a solid grounding in finance who enjoys being hands on, working across different areas of accounting and collaborating with colleagues and stakeholders across the wider business.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the Finance function, with responsibility across accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, reconciliations, reporting, tax and month-end activities. You will work closely with internal departments, European branches, suppliers, customers, external consultants and the wider Finance team to ensure financial processes are accurate, compliant and completed within deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

* Processing and reviewing sales and purchase invoices, including posting, filing and reconciliation

* Monitoring and controlling the Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable ledgers

* Preparing and processing weekly and monthly payment runs for approval

* Completing bank and cash book reconciliations

* Assisting with month-end procedures and ensuring deadlines are met

* Preparing weekly and monthly financial reports

* Supporting the preparation of monthly reporting packs, including financial statements and budget performance

* Preparing reports to monitor costs and identify areas for improvement

* Supporting budget planning and monitoring

* Preparing VAT returns and ensuring submissions are completed accurately and on time

* Assisting with Corporation Tax and deferred tax calculations

* Maintaining the fixed asset register, including booking, reconciliation and monitoring

* Preparing audit files and providing supporting evidence for quarterly and annual audits

* Supporting the Finance team with internal and external compliance requirements

* Identifying potential risks and supporting improvements to internal financial controls and processes

* Developing and maintaining internal procedures and guidelines within areas of responsibility

* Liaising with suppliers, customers, banks, tax authorities and other external stakeholders where required

* Providing guidance to colleagues on internal finance procedures

* Working collaboratively with European Finance teams and other departments across the business

* Supporting the Financial Controller with ad hoc reporting and finance projects

About You

We are looking for someone who is proactive, self-motivated and commercially aware, with a good understanding of accounting processes and financial administration.

You will ideally have:

* A degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline

* Previous experience within a finance or accounting environment

* Good knowledge of accounting and financial administration

* Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent Excel skills

* Experience of accounts payable, accounts receivable processes, reconciliations, invoicing and month-end procedures

* An understanding of VAT and wider tax processes

* Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy

* The ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders

* The confidence to work across different departments and within an international environment

* A proactive approach and the ability to manage deadlines effectively
