Financial Controller - Permanent

Salary: £65,000 plus benefits
Location: Newbury. Office-based, 5 days per week
Software: Sage, Excel

Reporting to: CEO

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a thriving SME, to oversee the UK finance operation and support, manage and liaise with the international finance teams. This pivotal role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills and a hands-on approach to financial management.

Key Responsibilities

• Communicate the company’s mission, vision and overall direction
• Implement strategic plans to achieve organisational objectives
• Provide strong leadership to Finance Team
• Build and maintain an effective team
• Foster a positive organisational culture and ensure alignment with company values
• Reporting Monthly AvB (P&L), Quarterly Management Accounts, Annual preparation for Tax Returns
• VAT Returns
• Working with external CPA’s for on time year-end filing.
• Cash Flow forecasting
• Supplier payments
• Manage all accounting operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations across multiple jurisdictions
• Utilise Sage software for financial processes, reporting, and analysis
• Work closely with senior management, external auditors, and financial institutions
• Identify opportunities to enhance financial efficiency and implement best practices

Key Skills & Experience

• Experience of managing multi-currency group business over £10m
• Either ICAEW/ACCA/CIMA qualified preferred but not essential
• Knowledge of Sage 200 and or Xero
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Teams, Outlook
• People management skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate cross culturally at all levels
• Able to maintain confidentiality and be assertive and professional
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar
• Ability to work in an office-based environment with a proactive and strategic mindset
