My client, a prestigious organisation of a number of independent schools in London, has an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Financial Controller.

Based in West and NW London, the Financial Controller will work on all aspects of Finance and take ownership of the function, reporting to the Director of Operations when required as well as line managing a Finance Assistant.

The successful candidate will be entitled to a salary of £50-55k, however there is scope for flexibility dependent on experience, as well as a benefits package and potential for career progression.

The Role

• Manage the financial accounting for assigned schools, ensuring all fees, expenses and transactions are recorded accurately
• Prepare and process monthly direct debit collections and maintain the billing ledger, ensuring all transactions are up to date
• Monitor and manage the collection of school fees, disbursements, and additional charges
• Prepare Monthly Management Accounts, including reconciliation of control accounts, variance analysis and commentary against budget
• Ensure all finance deadlines, including billing and supplier payments are consistently met
• Ensure the correct application of VAT on both income and expenditure, completing the preparation of quarterly VAT Returns

The Ideal Candidate

• Experience of working in a Finance and Accountancy environment in a Educator is highly desirable
• Knowledge and experience across purchase ledger, nominal ledger, sales ledger, bank reconciliation
• Experience of producing financial statements, cash flow forecasts and management accounts
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to lead and manage a team

You will be entitled to a salary of between 50-55k, with scope for flexibility dependent on experience, a pensions scheme and a holiday package of 30 days. There is also scope for career progression to Head of Finance for the group.
