Financial Controller

Ascent Recruitment is exclusively partnering with a market-leading e-commerce business in South Manchester to recruit a Financial Controller.

You’ll lead the finance team in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, working closely with the FD to drive efficiencies and transform the finance function in line with ambitious growth plans.

This role is ideal for an ambitious Finance Manager ready to step up or an experienced Financial Controller seeking a fresh challenge.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) with financial analysis
• Lead month-end close, ensuring timely adjustments and reconciliations
• Manage cashflows to optimise working capital
• Collaborate with Merchandise teams on stock control
• Oversee invoice finance facility
• Mentor and develop finance and non-finance staff
• Continuously review and improve financial controls, processes, and systems
• Support budgeting and forecasting, providing financial insights
• Ensure all HMRC, VAT, and tax submissions are accurate and timely

Key Requirements:

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualified (or QBE with relevant experience)
• Hands-on, proactive problem solver with high resilience
• Strong communicator with excellent attention to detail
• Advanced Excel skills; Sage experience a bonus
• Strong analytical mindset
• Experience in wholesale and/or e-commerce is highly desirable

Salary & Key Benefits:

• Up to £70,000
• 25 days holiday + birthday + bank holidays
