Financial Controller

We're recruiting a Financial Controller for a fast-growing, private equity-backed company near St Albans. This is a broad, hands-on role reporting to the Finance Director, responsible for managing all aspects of the finance function and leading a small finance team.

You'll oversee the full suite of financial processes, including budgeting, management reporting, and month/year-end close. You'll also act as a key liaison for external advisors, including auditors and tax specialists, and support internal stakeholders with accurate financial insight and decision-making support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Full responsibility for month-end and year-end close
• Manage preparation of statutory accounts and lead the audit process
• Own budgeting and forecasting cycles, supporting commercial decision-making
• Maintain and enhance financial models in Excel
• Oversee tax compliance, including VAT and corporation tax
• Implement strong internal controls and continuous process improvement
• Mentor and support a finance team
  
  

Requirements:

• Qualified accountant
• Statutory accounting and reporting knowledge
• Experience of supporting non-finance managers
• Advanced Excel skills (modelling, pivot tables, complex formulas)
