Financial Controller

Our client, a UK based multi-utility infrastructure provider, is looking for a degree qualifiedFinancial Controller to lead their finance function and work closely with the CFO. As the Financial Controller you’ll manage a team of 5, take ownership of key financial processes, provide clear and insightful reporting, oversee audits and banking relationships and lead strategic financial planning - playing a key leadership role in the business. Key responsibilities for the Financial Controller:

• Lead preparation of timely and accurate monthly management accounts and board reports
• Maintain balance sheet integrity through thorough review, reconciliation, and risk management
• Manage external audit processes, acting as main liaison with auditors
• Oversee banking relationships, cash flow, covenant compliance, and insurance renewals.
• Design & implement management information systems to support business decisions
• Drive budgeting, forecasting, and financial modelling in collaboration with key departments
• Lead, develop, and motivate the finance team to achieve high performance
• Continuously improve financial processes, controls, and reporting tools

Skills and experience required:

• Qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent)
• Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Maths
• Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role
• Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills; experience with ERP systems
• Proven experience managing and developing finance teams
• Experience gained within the construction sector - Desirable
• Strong technical knowledge of accounting standards and regulatory requirements
• Experience managing external audit and banking relationships
• Demonstrable ability in budgeting, forecasting and producing board-level MI
