A bit about the role ...

We are looking for an experienced and driven Financial Controller to join our finance team, reporting to the Head of Finance. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for strengthening and professionalising the finance function. You will ensure the integrity, accuracy and timeliness of our financial reporting, maintain a strong financial control environment and provide technical accounting leadership across the
business. Working closely with senior leadership, you will play a critical role in supporting business performance, driving improvements and ensuring robust financial governance as the business continues to grow.

What you will be responsible for ...

• 
  ·Owning the monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting processes
  · Ensuring accurate and timely month end and year end close
  · Reviewing management accounts and ensuring high quality financial insight for senior
  leadership
  · Maintaining strong balance sheet controls, including reconciliations and review processes
  · Developing and strengthening internal controls across the business
  · Ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies
  · Acting as the technical accounting lead, advising on new and complex transactions
  · Leading the preparation of statutory accounts and managing the external audit process
  · Overseeing cash reporting, working capital and balance sheet performance
  · Identifying financial risks and implementing appropriate controls and mitigations
  · Leading, coaching and developing members of the finance team
  · Driving continuous improvement in finance processes, systems and ways of working
  · Building strong relationships across operational teams to support effective decision making
  
  

What we’d like from you ...

• 
  ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified accountant
  · Significant post-qualification experience in a financial control or similar role


• Proven experience delivering accurate, timely financial reporting in a complex or growing organisation
  · Strong technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP / IFRS)
  · Experience of improving financial controls, processes and reporting standards
  · Experience managing or mentoring finance teams
  · Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior level
  · Experience working with external auditors and delivering statutory accounts
  · Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial systems / ERP platforms
  · A proactive, hands-on approach with strong attention to detail and accountability
  · Clear and confident communication skills, with the ability to translate financial information for non-finance stakeholders

Desirable:
· Experience within construction, social housing or a multi site operational environment
· Experience supporting business growth, transformation or system improvements
