KCR Solutions are delighted to be working exclusively with a dynamic and growing business in Consett to recruit an experienced Financial Controller.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to take ownership of the company’s financial operations and play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the business.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will have responsibility for the day-to-day management of the company’s finances, providing accurate financial information, meaningful insight and commercial support to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will be varied and hands-on, with responsibility for:

Producing accurate monthly management accounts and statutory accounts
Preparing and managing budgets and financial forecasts, reporting key findings to senior management
Managing corporation tax, VAT returns and monthly balance sheet reconciliations
Working closely with team members to monitor and discuss progress on job costings
Analysing project costs against revenue and highlighting key variances
Identifying, exploring and applying for relevant grant funding opportunities
Managing payroll and ensuring PAYE and VAT submissions are completed accurately and on time with HMRC
Overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable
Managing cash flow and intercompany invoicing
Carrying out credit control and negotiating appropriate payment terms
Providing accurate and timely accounting information to external bodies
Supporting the Managing Director and senior management team with financial analysis and commercial decision-making
About You

We are looking for a confident and capable finance professional who can take ownership of the company's financial function and become a key member of the team.

You will be either a qualified Accountant or qualified by experience, with a strong understanding of financial accounting and commercial business operations.

You will also have:

Strong IT skills, particularly in Xero and Microsoft Excel
Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
The ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues
A proactive approach, with the confidence to identify issues and suggest improvements
The ability to work independently while also working closely with the wider management team
