Financial Controller - Leeds/Hybrid - Fast Growing SME

I am delighted to be recruiting for a fast-scaling, high-performance SME who operate internationally. Following their start up 7 years ago, this business have experienced phenomenal growth, doubling their headcount in just 12 months!

This role will be number 1 in finance reporting directly to the CEO and overseeing the day to day financial operations for the business.

The role will be a “roll your sleeves up” hands on FC role within a owner managed SME that operates with pace and precision. The way the business operates is first class with a culture of high performance across the company. The leadership team all muck in to get the job done, combining their energy and experience - enjoying what they do with no egos.

The role would be ideally suited to a hands on FC with track record of contributing to growing an business, not just in terms of revenue and profit, but operational robustness and management insights across the company.

Reporting to the CEO the key duties will include:

• Assist in preparing monthly management accounts, including accruals, prepayments, and variance analysis.
• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accurate maintenance of financial records.
• Process invoices, expenses, and payments, ensuring compliance with company policies.
• Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
• Support in preparing VAT returns and liaise with tax authorities when necessary.
• Assist in the completion of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Provide financial analysis to support decision-making within the business.
• Contribute to process improvements and efficiency within the finance department.
• Monitor outstanding invoices, follow up on payments, and effectively manage the debtors’ ledger.
• Reconcile supplier statements, investigate discrepancies, and ensure prompt resolution.
• Support financial reporting processes, ensuring precise record-keeping for audit purposes.
• Provide payroll data, including absences, bonuses, and tax considerations for employees based internationally.
• Ensure timely and accurate entry of financial transactions while adhering to international financial regulations and company policies.
• Maintain well-organised and up-to-date financial records and documentation.
• Assist with internal and external audits, liaising with auditors as required.

The successful candidate will:

• Be fully ACA/ACC/CIMA qualified with a minimum of 3 years PQE - Essential
• Have experience in high-growth or scaling SME - Highly Desirable.
• Be highly commercial, with excellent financial modelling and analysis skills - Essential
• Be an experienced and strong team leader, coach and mentor - Essential
