Job Description - Financial Controller Route to Finance Director - Sheffield

Axon Moore are supporting a thriving manufacturing SME in Sheffield to recruit their Financial Controller.

This is a well-established, owner managed business with a proud history that has ambitious plans to develop further markets and revenue streams.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the business as Financial Controller, with a direct route to becoming Finance Director in the near future.

You will be supported by a highly experienced executive team, as well as a highly capable finance function.

Key responsibilities include:

Lead and develop the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely preparation of monthly management accounts and financial statements
Manage the annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, working closely with department heads and operational teams
Monitor cash flow, working capital, and cost control, and ensure effective treasury management
Oversee all statutory reporting, tax compliance (VAT, corporation tax, etc.), and liaison with auditors
Develop and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard company assets
Partner with operations to provide financial insights on manufacturing costs, inventory, pricing, and margin analysis
Support strategic planning and investment decisions with detailed financial modelling and scenario analysis
Drive system and process improvements, including ERP enhancements and automation of financial processes
Report financial performance and key KPIs to the Board and assist in strategic decision-making
Further development and refining of the costing system and information
Ongoing development and management of the stock ordering processes

The ideal candidate for this role will possess the following skills and experience:

Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with experience in a senior finance role within an SME organisation
Experience within the manufacturing sector would be highly desirable
Experience working within a privately owned/owner managed or family-owned business between £20m and £50m turnover would be highly desirable
