The Role

As the first finance hire, reporting directly to the CEO, you will be instrumental in shaping the finance function from the ground up. You will take full ownership of core accounting, monthly and annual reporting, and design the processes from scratch.

At the same time, you will support the team on commercial analysis, ensuring that financial data becomes a powerful driver of strategic decision-making.

This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate who is ready to step into their first number one finance role, is motivated by building and scaling a function from scratch, and thrives in fast-paced, high-performance environments.

You'll be working alongside the SLT and will play a central role in building a best-in-class finance function within a high-growth, tech business.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the monthly close, management accounts, board pack, P&L, balance sheet, cash management, and annual statutory reporting

• Implement rigorous financial controls
• Design transaction-level data capture

• Business partner with the wider team, owning all forecasting and budgeting.
• Own BI for finance, delivering visualisation dashboards for gross margin, CAC and other recurring revenue metrics

• Select and implement the core finance stack
• Automate reconciliations and reporting

• Work with the compliance team on FCA-relevant processes, safeguarding and consumer duty controls, and audit readiness

• Manage outsourced providers for payroll, tax, and statutory filings, bring capability in-house over time

Essential Experience:

• Hold a relevant qualification, such as ACA / CFA / MBA

• First or early finance hire in a start-up or scale-up, or number two who has built significant processes from scratch
• Proven automation processes, advanced Excel and PowerBI skills or use of other visualisation tools
• Partnered directly with SLTs previously

Desirable Experience

• FCA regulated environments
• Been a first finance hire before
• High-volume, transactional environments, preferably fintech, but will consider those who have experience of Ecommerce or Tech more widely

Salary: £80,000 - £100,000 + equity

Location: Shoreditch HQ, flexible work arrangements
